We don't expect everyone to choose
to take the route we took to Iremia. Not many people have the time
to meander through France, Switzerland and Italy. We set a
relatively fast pace taking 5 days to travel the 1191 miles from
Orpington to Kamilari in the south of Crete. You might choose to take a shorter route! |

| We took Eurotunnel to France and then drove to Ancona in Italy. From Ancona we took the ferry to Patras. Then by road to Piraeus for the overnight ferry to Heraklion. Finally by road again to Kamilari |

In the summer months it is possible to obtain direct
charter flights to Crete.
A
number of package tour operators fly direct from Cardiff, Manchester or
Gatwick to Heraklion/Chania, and flight-onlys are available. Take a
look at:

| If you have difficulty finding a charter flight to Crete there is the option to take a scheduled flight. Olympic Airways, (0870 60 60 460) can arrange your flights from Heathrow and Hellas Jet, (0870 751 7222) can arrange your flights from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester. All offer flights from other airports in Europe. You can fly to Athens and then get a connection to Crete on a domestic flight or take the overnight ferry from Piraeus. Easy Jet fly direct from Gatwick and from Luton or Gatwick, to Athens flyglobespan fly from Stanstead to Athens. Olympic can also arrange the connection to Heraklion or Hania; or you can arrange a domestic flight with Aegean Airlines, (0030 210 9988300), it is usually also possible to go to their desk at Athens airport and buy a ticket on the spot. Aegean Airlines also have flights from a number of airports in Germany and from Rome. SkyExpress might also be an option |
